Event Details

From March 20 to 22, the 2026 Global Manganese Association Annual Conference and GMA Manganese Industry Summit was successfully held in Shenzhen under the theme “Bringing the Global Manganese Industry Together for Shared Progress.” The event brought together key stakeholders across the global manganese value chain for in-depth discussions on major industry topics, building consensus and charting a path toward high-quality and sustainable development of the global manganese industry.

The conference was hosted by the Global Manganese Association (GMA), organized by Shanghai Manganese Union Technology Co., Ltd., and supported by FerroAlloyNet as the media partner. It received strong support from industry organizations and leading enterprises, including the Metallurgical MinesAssociation of China and the Guangxi Federation of Enterprises and Entrepreneurs. XCMG, SANY Group, Shantui Construction Machinery, and Inner Mongolia North Hauler Joint Stock Co., Ltd. provided sponsorship support. Nearly 500 experts, industry leaders, and corporate representatives from China, India, South Africa, Australia, and other major manganese-producing and consuming countries gathered in Shenzhen. Participants covered the entire manganese value chain — including mining, alloy smelting, manganese-based electrochemical products, new-energy materials, equipment manufacturing, trading, and logistics — making the event the industry’s premier annual gathering and the highest-profile, most comprehensive, and most influential manganese industry event worldwide.

The conference focused on national strategic priorities and global manganese industry trends, with emphasis on building a unified market, promoting orderly competition, addressing excessive competition, and strengthening coordinated self-regulation across the value chain. It provided a high-level platform for global manganese industry exchange and cooperation.

Agenda Highlights

During the summit forum, eleven industry experts and corporate representatives delivered keynote presentations covering major areas across the manganese value chain. Pan Cenxuan, Chief Scientist at the Cleaner Production Center of the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, presented “Environmental Protection Situation, Responses, and Progress in the Electrolytic Manganese Industry.” Zhang Longqiang, Secretary of the Party Committee, President and Chief Engineer of the Metallurgical Industry Information and Standardization Research Institute, presented “The Transformation of the Chinese and Global Steel Industries: Demand-side Dynamics.” Wang Hong, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of GMA, presented “Manganese Ore Market Outlook and GMA Strategic Roadmap.” Guo Jun, Chairman of Jitie Ferroalloy Co., Ltd., presented “China’s Manganese Alloys Market Deep Dive and Future Trends.” Manish Sarda, Chairman of the Indian Ferro Alloy Producers’ Association, and Neha Gambhir, Head of Trade Strategy and Budget at Million Link (China) Investment Ltd. , shared insights on India’s manganese industry and steel market.

Zhan Haiqing, President of the Guangxi Manganese Industry Association, and Liu Yanlong, Former Secretary-General of the China Industrial Association of Power Sources, delivered reports on “Annual Report on Manganese-based Electrochemical Products” and “Report on Development of China’s Lithium-ion Battery Industry.” Yan Guanjie, Wu Yida, and Professor Zheng Junchao shared developments in manganese-based precursor materials, high-voltage LNMO cathode materials, and LMFP and other manganese-based cathode materials, including technological breakthroughs and industrialization progress.

These presentations covered the full manganese industry chain, from green electrolytic manganese development and steel industry transformation to manganese ore markets, manganese-based electrochemical products, and advanced new-energy materials, providing global participants with comprehensive industry insights.

During the conference, participating enterprises jointly issued an initiative calling for an export tariff exemption policy for silicomanganese alloys that meet environmental requirements and are produced using green electricity, supporting the global competitiveness of China’s high-quality manganese production capacity.

The successful organization of the 2026 Global Manganese Association Annual Conference and GMA Manganese Industry Summit strengthened industry consensus on green development, coordinated self-regulation, and innovation-driven transformation.

GMA will continue to promote information sharing, technology exchange, supply-demand cooperation, and sustainable development across the global manganese value chain, guided by its principles of “Sharing, Freedom, Engagement, and Service.”
