The China Manganese Alloy Branch of the Global Manganese Association (GMA) has held a industry exchange meeting in Beijing. As a key regional branch of GMA, the event brought together representatives from leading domestic manganese alloy producers and member entities. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on energy conservation and emission reduction, public warehouse development, joint manganese ore procurement, and standardized cost reporting, in response to China’s latest regulatory policies targeting disorderly low-price competition in industrial commodities. The meeting reached unified industry consensus aimed at resolving prevailing operational challenges, standardizing market order, and advancing high-quality and sustainable development across the global manganese alloy industrial chain.

The global manganese alloy industry is currently undergoing profound structural adjustment, facing widespread pressure from weak end-user demand and elevated production costs. As the world’s core manufacturing hub for manganese alloys, China has intensified internal low-price competition, which has distorted market pricing logic, squeezed corporate profit margins, and hindered the industry’s green, standardized and high-quality progress. To rectify market irregularities, Chinese authorities have issued a series of regulatory measures to standardize industrial cost accounting, improve anti-dumping supervision, and optimize the overall market environment for bulk industrial materials.

Under the coordination of the GMA China Branch, major domestic manganese alloy enterprises, including Jitie Ferroalloy, Shanxi Oriental Resources Development Group, Jiaocheng Yiwang Ferroalloy, Chongqing Bosai Mining Group and Wuhai Sanmei International Mining, have jointly adopted four core industry initiatives in response to national regulatory guidance and global industrial trends.

Firstly, accelerate global-aligned green and low-carbon transformation. The Branch advocates comprehensive industry self-discipline and proactive energy-saving and emission-reduction practices to maintain a balanced supply-and-demand structure. Nearly 60% of domestic production capacity has voluntarily arranged operational maintenance and low-carbon optimization, supporting the global manganese industry’s low-carbon transition goals.

Secondly, promote the construction and implementation of shared public warehouse systems. The mechanism effectively eases inventory backlogs and capital pressure for individual producers, improves overall industrial chain collaboration and risk resilience, and builds a shared and mutually beneficial industrial ecosystem that offers replicable experience for regional and global market governance.

Thirdly, advance voluntary joint procurement of manganese ore. By consolidating domestic industry purchasing demand, the sector strengthens bargaining power in the global raw material market, stabilizes raw material costs, and underpins orderly and healthy competition throughout the global manganese alloy market.

Fourthly, standardize industrial cost accounting and establish transparent data disclosure mechanisms. In compliance with national requirements for standardized cost management of major industrial products, GMA will serve as the official centralized platform for full-scale production cost submission. Based on authentic and unified industry data, GMA will release authoritative cost benchmarks to guide rational enterprise pricing and foster a fair, standardized and orderly global market competition environment.

The meeting represents a key initiative of the GMA China Branch to implement standardized industrial supervision, rectify market disorder, and upgrade global-oriented industry self-governance. The consensus reached fully aligns with both global low-carbon trends and domestic policy directions, translating industry governance objectives into practical, executable standards and addressing core bottlenecks constraining the healthy development of the manganese alloy sector. It sets a standardized benchmark for regional manganese industry governance worldwide.

Moving forward, the GMA China Manganese Alloy Branch will continue to monitor global and domestic policy developments, fully implement all agreed initiatives, and further improve industry self-regulation systems and service capabilities. As an integral regional arm of the Global Manganese Association, the Branch will unite all member enterprises to build a standardized, low-carbon, collaborative and win-win industrial ecosystem, empowering stable, healthy and sustainable high-quality development for the global manganese and ferroalloy industry.
